I’m Dave O’Leary. Kind Wealth is an advice-only family office, and we act as a Personal CFO for a small number of families across Canada.
We keep things pretty private, and personal introductions like this are the primary way we meet the families we work with.
I thought I’d tell you a little about how we work. If it resonates, let’s talk.
If you’re anything like the wealth-creator families we work with…
An accountant. A lawyer. An investment manager or three. Each is good at their job, but stays in their own lane. That leaves you responsible for the overall strategy and for moving everything forward.
That’s where we come in. We design the strategy, drive it forward, and coordinate the professionals you already trust.
Many families have never filled this role because they didn’t know it existed. The discipline is called financial planning. The easiest way to get your head around it: think of it as your family’s CFO.
Having a CFO for your family means someone sits close to everything: your investments, your taxes, your business, your family, your plans. That only works if you never have to wonder whose interests their recommendations serve.
That’s why we don’t sell products, accept commissions, or take referral fees. We’re paid one way: by our clients, for our advice.
Maybe a business is changing hands. Wealth is passing between generations. Or you’re shifting from the stage of life where you create wealth to the one where you live off it.
At some point, the questions stop being about any one investment or tax decision. They become about how everything fits together, and what you want your wealth to make possible.
Our work is personal, detailed, and difficult to do at scale. That’s why we only take on a few new families each year. And when you work this closely with this few people, the fit has to be right on both sides.
What the families we partner with have in common has less to do with money and more to do with mindset. They want to be involved, ask hard questions, and treat the plan as theirs rather than ours.
And just as importantly, we should all genuinely get along. We’ll be spending a lot of time together, and life’s too short to work with people you don’t enjoy spending time with.
I’d love to hear where you’re at in life, what questions you have about your wealth and finances, and what, if anything, is nagging at you. If you book a time below, we’ll set up a video call, and my partner Tim, our lead financial planner, will join us.
After that call, if we all think it’s worth continuing the conversation, we can. If not, we’ll say so plainly. Either way, you’ll leave with an objective perspective on your current approach and where there’s room to improve it.
Cheers,
Dave
P.S. The part of our work I haven’t described here is the part I like most, and it’s less about money than what money is for. The questions we end up asking are bigger. Is your wealth genuinely improving your life? What good might it do beyond your own family? And what beliefs about money have you inherited but never examined?
